President's Letter

I know, I know – another newsletter. But fact is, so much has been happening with the Garden of the Gods Foundation that an occasional newsletter seems the best way to keep in touch with our growing number of supporters.

For example, we'll report special events like the Zebulon Pike commemoration. We'd promised no annual fundraiser this year, but the Pike celebration was just too timely to ignore. Besides, it added $17,000 to other contributions received since our 10-Year Celebration last year -- funds that are making possible a number of needed projects:

•  $20,000 for Gambel oak management

•  $1,500 for concrete work in the Central Garden

•  $3,000 for educational and school programs

•  $6,500 for a volunteer project coordinator

…which resulted in $31,000 additional funding!

Donations are what make 2006 grants of $145,663 possible. In this issue we recognize our generous donors. If you should have been listed please let us know. The newsletter will also pay tribute to natural phenomena that make the Garden a national treasure. In this issue, for example, you'll be introduced to the ubiquitous yucca, a. k. a. Spanish Bayonet.

Thanks for all your interest and all you do!

Nancy Lewis
President
